Ruger decided to destroy the pistol and send me a replacement. Another Security 9 went for repairs before ever being fired. It had problems with the slide stop. If the slide was racked with an empty magazine, the magazine then dropped out, the slide would be stuck and would not move forward until between 3 and 14 tries were made. Ruger …The slide would stay locked back when there were still rounds in the magazine. This happened more than once. Plus often when you put a new (loaded) magazine in and pull the slide back to put a round in the chamber the slide got stuck in the back position. Did a bit of research online and it seems to be a fairly common problem.

I had an slide QC issue years ago when the original LC 9 was introduced. Ruger CS sent me a new slide and prepaid mailing box to return the bad one. Now, upon reassembly, the slide will not go all the way back because the hammer is down. I did not try to push the hammer back in fear of damaging anything.
