So I have gathered all the necessary tools and supplies and plan on reloading .44 mag with IMR-4227, CCI Mag primers, and Hornady XTP 180 & 200 gr bullets. My first question is one you guys probably get tired to answering.Posts: 1,125. Hornady in the rifle section says start at 14.9 grains of H110 for 1300 fps. and maximum at 20.6 for 1650 fps. Hornady 9th tested with Hornady cases, WLP primer, 18" Ruger Carbine. In the pistol section they start at 16.4 and a max at 20.7. Note that you HAVE to trim 44 mag cases to a length of 1.255" using the 225 grain FTX bullet.

44 magnum H110 question. I purchased a ruger super blackhawk with a 10.5 inch barrel to use for deer hunting up here in Wisconsin. I really like the gun and reload shells for it. The first batch I made I loaded at maximum charge of h110 (240 gr speer jhp and 180gr xtp) and the 180 gr xtp's didn't group well, but with the 240 grain speers I had ...Not sure, but I bet the difference in the older data and newer is changes in the bullet itself. I know they look different now. The 240 gr. 44 bullet "looks" like the "mag" bullet in 45. I still have a few of the older 44's and they appear to have thinner jackets. A call to Hornady would probably answer the question. ….
